“A Gift of Joy from God”

I am Darrell Dacres, lovingly known as Cayman’s Native Son a local boy whose dream blossomed into a God‑given journey of music, joy, and purpose.

From the age of seven, when I first held a guitar, God placed a spark in me. By thirteen, I was already playing professionally, discovering the beautiful path He had prepared long before I understood it. Like many Caymanians, it took time for me to find the courage to stand on my own, but when I did, I played across the Cayman Islands and became known as the Island’s premier bass player with the band Regeneration.

In 1974, my band travelled to Jamaica to record our first album a moment forever etched in my heart. During that time, I met Bob Marley and The Wailers as we shared the same studio space. God has a way of placing us exactly where we need to be.

In 1987, at the Cayman Islands Music Association’s first Grammy Awards, I was honoured with Best Bass Player, and my band Network received Best Band. Over the years, I shared the stage with international legends like Mighty Sparrow, Bon Jovi, The Temptations, and The Tramps reminders that His gifts can take us far beyond our imagination.

I do not perform in nightclubs, bars, or street celebrations. My calling is different. God has given me uplifting Gospel music and joyful celebration music, each with its own purpose. My Gospel music is for ministry churches, Gospel concerts, and spiritual gatherings. My celebration music is for families, communities, and anyone who needs a lift of happiness. I have also been blessed to appear on local and international television. In 1997, God placed a vision in my heart to create a musical TV program. Within months, I flew a producer from New Hampshire to Cayman, and the show aired shortly after another reminder that when God opens a door, no one can close it. Continued….

“Happy Music That Travels the World!”

My song Dandolito the Dinosaur didn’t just make people smile it became one of the team songs for the Mall of America! And back in ’97, Cable & Wireless in the UK chose my music to represent their brand, proving that happy island music travels far, touches every age, and speaks a universal language of joy.

God also blessed me to own three creative companies CMI Records, Music World Distributors, and Beno Publishers where I represented myself, talented artists from Jamaica, and many gifted musicians from the Cayman Islands. Together, we carried Caribbean joy across borders and into hearts around the world.

Another Sunny Day – The Story Behind the Song

While studying in Minnesota, the cold mornings and quiet days made me long for home. When I finally returned to Cayman and felt the warm sun on my face, something holy awakened inside me. The breeze, the colours, the joy it all rushed into my heart. Right there, God dropped the idea for Another Sunny Day into my spirit. The rhythm, the melody, the excitement of homecoming flowed out of me like a gift from heaven. This song is pure Cayman sunshine, pure gratitude, and pure happiness. May it lift your spirit and remind you that no matter where life takes you, God always has another sunny day waiting.

Caribbean Dreams – Happy Island Music

Caribbean Dreams – Happy Island Music is joy in motion. It is the sound of sunshine, the heartbeat of Cayman, and the happiness God places in every home willing to receive it. My music is crafted with intention to elevate your mood, brighten your spirit, and fill your mind with God‑given joy.

During my studies, I learned that the children of Isreal were only permitted to used certain chords, and that Israel had two types of music: celebration music and worship music. Both were joyful, respectful, and uplifting. After becoming a Christian, God deepened my understanding even more. That is why my new catalogue is called Caribbean Dreams – Happy Island Music, and my Gospel music is created under “The Joy of Music is, “The Glory of Jesus’ Love.”
